Abstract

Regional head election is a very important moment for a country, especially for a democratic country like Indonesia. There are several types of regional head election system today. In Indonesia itself, the regional head election system has undergone several changes. As in the colonial period, Indonesia used a nomination system in determining regional heads, using a representative system in the old order and currently using a direct election system. There are many pros and cons to these systems, because they have their own advantages and disadvantages. However, the goal remains the same, namely to make the region prosperous. Meanwhile, Imam Al-Mawardi also has his own views on regional head elections. Of course, Al-Mawardi's view is more inclined to the Islamic state and the political situation at the time he lived, but it still has relevance to the regional head election system that applies in Indonesia.
